NEW SITE OFFERS OVER 1000 LINKS FOR CATHOLICS

New Catholic On-Line Resource Center Launched by Missionary Supporter

Thousands of Catholic options are on the web," said Carrie Swearingen, Director of Communications at Catholic Extension, the organization that supports missionary work in America. But we found many sites that offered questionable material. This is what sparked the launch of a new and improved www.catholic-extension.org. Universally, the desire to enhance ones spirituality is a beautiful quest and we feel it is important for Catholics or those interested in Catholicism to find sites that are genuine in their approach."

More than 1000 Catholic links are well-organized at www.catholic-extension.org. The organization screens every link submission and visitors find categories offering links to extensive prayer, sacraments, saints, marian, education, products and other spiritual sites on the Internet.

Catholic Extensions site has helped me with research projects for school," said 13-year-old Erin Poynter, a student at St. Mary School in Mundelein, Ill. Anytime I need information about a saint or the history of the Church, I always seem to find what I am looking for. Its literally a click away. This site is wonderful."

In addition to an extensive links section, www.catholic-extension.org offers up-to-the-minute Catholic world news, American missionary news, free magazine subscriptions and prayer cards, and registration for a weekly meditation.

The site has attracted a large number of visitors since the redesign," said Swearingen. And on Good Friday we finally began offering on-line donations so that Americans would have an easier way to help missionaries here in the U.S. and its territories. Hopefully visitors will recognize the needs of priests who fly single-engine planes throughout Alaskas scattered islands, sisters who maneuver mobile medical units throughout the Appalachian Mountains, and bishops who long to build churches for growing populations of poverty-stricken residents. So often we forget about the struggles that exist right here in America."
