GATEWAY TO L.A. BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
CREATES DISTRICT SERVICES POSITION
Gateway to L.A. PBID, the property-based business improvement district along Century Boulevard, has named San Pedro resident Laurie Hughes as the new PBID District Services Director. The decision to create the position came after the PBID expanded its operations and opened a headquarters at 6151 Century Blvd., Suite 121; Hughes will be based at the new office.
LOS ANGELES -- Gateway to L.A. PBID, the property-based business improvement district along Century Boulevard, has named San Pedro resident Laurie Hughes as the new PBID District Services Director. The decision to create the position came after the PBID expanded its operations and opened a headquarters at 6151 Century Blvd., Suite 121; Hughes will be based at the new office.
Hughes will concentrate her efforts on assisting the PBID Executive Director Merry Norris and Executive Committee in the overall administration of operation of Gateway to LA. Hughes will interact and work with property owners and tenants, area businesses and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) representatives. She will also oversee contracted services, including the launch of the Gateway Goodwill Ambassador Program in July.
Hughes most recent role was as finance director for the Kuykendall Congressional Committee. Her responsibilities included all aspects of campaign fundraising and finance committee organization. Hughes was also an office manager for Breiholz Qazi Engineering Inc. where she actively participated in the Torrance Chamber of Commerce and served as a board member of the South Bay chapter of the American Red Cross. Prior to that, Hughes spent four years as an executive administrative assistant at Watt Group Inc./Watt Commercial Development. Hughes is a graduate of El Camino Junior College in Torrance, CA.

Located along Century Boulevard, just east of LAX, Gateway to L.A. PBID was established in 1998. The 4.4 million square foot PBID area features 12.3 million square feet of improvements, including a collection of 13 hotels, restaurants, services, numerous office buildings, small businesses and several major parking facilities. More than 30,000 people work in the PBID area. The mission of the Gateway to L.A. PBID is to economically and aesthetically revitalize the properties and businesses of the district and to create a meaningful and recognizable Gateway" to the city of Los Angeles.
