Author Steps Back into 1600s and Through Golden Light"

Many people look focus only on tomorrow, but author A.A. Aguirre feels that those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat its mistakes. Thats why she chose the emotionally charged intrigue of the Inquisition as the backdrop for her novel Through Golden Light," just published by Virtualbookworm.com Publishing Inc.

In Haven port, the OBrien clan has a reputation of being mad, drunken and fey. The oldest of six children, Molly OBrien works on the docks by day and at the White Hart by night, pinching pennies to keep body and soul together. Into her insular world comes Father Lucian, a Jesuit priest who does not plan to stay. During his reluctant exile, he eventually finds himself torn between faith and the Pygmalion pleasure he feels, molding Molly from wharf urchin to woman. Molly knows she cannot ask Father Lucian to abandon his vows, though she knows where her heart belongs. This incredible tale of forbidden love encompasses persecution, devotion, and ultimate sacrifice.

Aguirre says her stories must be a bit different" - a reflection of her own personal tastes.

I am a voracious reader and devour nearly anything I can get my hands on," she says. My preference leans toward science fiction and fantasy with a focus on the unusual. My tastes in literature run along similar veins; I savor originality, strong characterization, impassioned writing, and lyrical description. The novels I love most are the ones that surpass genre entirely and haunt you during quiet moments."

Aguirre reveals that her aspirations to become an author started at the tender age of six, when she wrote her first novel." It was about twenty handwritten pages, chock full of misspellings, lack of punctuation, poor plotting and utter incongruity," Aguirre explains. I won a first grade writing contest with it," she adds, and took that little book to a regional competition. It was then that I knew I must make it my lifes work." Some years later, she earned a degree in English Literature. Since then, she has managed a collegiate poetry magazine, published short fiction and poetry, and currently works as acquisitions editor for Novel Books, Inc.

Bobby Bernshausen, president of Virtualbookworm.com, says the book is gripping and hard to put down. It definitely transcends genre. When we received this manuscript, we just knew we had to get it in print," he says. It is full of enough mystery, twists and turns to please readers of all tastes."

Through Golden Light" is available in softcover ($15 plus shipping), as an electronic book via download ($6.50) or on CD ($8.50 plus shipping). Through Golden Light" can be ordered directly from Virtualbookworm at http://www.virtualbookworm.com, from Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.
