Black Writers Alliance Announces 2001 Black Writers Reunion & Conference

Annoucement for the Black Writers Alliance 2001 Black Writers Reunion & Conference to be held August 3-5, 2001 in Dallas, Texas. The Black Writers Reunion and Conference is an annual gathering of creative minds, bodies and spirits in celebration of written expression, and commitment to the nurturing of black writers in furtherance of black literature. This weekend event offers a 50-Author Expo, the Authors' Reception, the Poets' Reception, more than 25 workshops, panel discussions, the inspirational Sunday brunch, and networking with writers, agents, editors, and publishers from all over the country.

Dallas, TX -- Building upon the success of the immensely popular inaugural Black Writers Reunion & Conference held in Atlanta in August 2000, the Black Writers Alliance will hold the 2001 Black Writers Reunion & Conference in Dallas, Texas, August 3-5, 2001. The 2001 Black Writers Reunion & Conference (BWRC) will once again be a gathering of some of the brightest voices in Black literature.

"We are thrilled to carry on the successful legacy of the first Black Writers Reunion & Conference by bringing our national touring literary event to Dallas this year," said Tia Shabazz, founder and executive director of the Black Writers Alliance (BWA), the organization sponsoring the event. "The BWA is dedicated to encouraging quality in African American literature and furthering our mission through educational, skill development, inspirational, and networking opportunities, both online and offline."

This years event promises to be a stellar occasion uniting writers of the African diaspora from all over the globe. Highlights of the 2001 Black Writers Reunion & Conference include the 50-Author Expo, featuring book readings and signings from a wide selection of writers; Authors and Poets Receptions, including poetry readings; an Inspirational Sunday Brunch moderated by Norma Jarrett, author of Sunday Brunch; the Second Annual Gold Pen Awards Banquet, honoring the years best in Black literature and featuring the keynote address from Robert Fleming, author of The African American Writers Handbook; and over 25 workshops on writing, publishing, and marketing led by renowned literary talents such as Donna Hill (If I Could), Sharon Ewell Foster (Passing By Samaria), and editor Carol Taylor (Brown Sugar).

Registration for the 2001 Black Writers Reunion & Conference is currently open at the BWRC web site. Black Writers Alliance has negotiated special discount rates for 2001 BWRC attendees with American Airlines, the official conference airline carrier, and the Renaissance Dallas North Hotel, located near the prestigious Dallas Galleria.
