CSBS Taps Bankers Advisory Board for 2001-02

News release announcing 15 bankers elected to domestic advisory board for the Conference of State Bank Supervisors.

WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) June 30, 2001 -- Elizabeth McCaul, Chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) and New York Superintendent of Banks, has announced the selection of 15 bankers to serve on the organizations Bankers Advisory Board for the coming year.

The CSBS Bankers Advisory Board is the organization's bank membership leadership group. The Bankers Advisory Board meets to provide advice and support to the Board of Directors, and serves as a resource to CSBS members and staff throughout the year.

Gabriel P. Caprio, president and CEO, Amalgamated Bank, New York, NY, was appointed to a two-year term as Chairman, succeeding William J. McGurk, president and CEO, Rockville Bank, Rockville, CT, who continues on the Board for two more years as Immediate Past Chairman.            

Jasper J. Jaser, chairman, president & CEO, Prime Bank, Orange CT, was relected to a two-year term as District I Chairman. Also re-elected to two-year terms were District III Chairman Richard P. Morthland, president, The Peoples Bank & Trust Co., Selma, AL, and District V Chairman James L. Ryan, chairman & CEO, Bank of Walnut Creek, Walnut Creek, CA. Morthland will also serve as the Boards Vice Chairman-Policy

Gary F. Short, president, Security State Bank, Independence, IA, and Gary L. Nelon, chairman & CEO, First Texas Bancorp, Inc., Georgetown, TX, continue to serve the second year of their two-year terms representing District II and District IV respectively. Nelon was also named Vice Chairman-Membership.

Three bankers have been appointed to At-Large seats on the Board. They include Graham L. Champion, senior vice president, Government Affairs, AmSouth Bank, Montgomery, AL; George S. Vibbert, president & CEO, American City Bank of Tullahoma, Tullahoma, TN; and James A. Mastera, executive vice president, Cornhusker Bank, Lincoln, NE.

Members Emeritus include James P. Del Rossi, senior vice president, Depositors Insurance Fund, Woburn, MA; Lawrence A. Johns, chairman, IBT Bancorp, Mt. Pleasant, MI; Aubrey B. Patterson, chairman and CEO, BancorpSouth, Tupelo, MS; Andrew J. Shepard, chairman, Exchange Bank, Santa Rosa, CA; and J. Alton Wingate, chairman, president and CEO of Community Bankshares, Inc., Cornelia, GA.

The Conference of State Bank Supervisors is the professional association of state officials responsible for chartering, supervising, and regulating the nations 6,000-plus state-chartered commercial and savings banks, and more than 400 state-licensed foreign banking offices nationwide.
