Hungryherps.com announced today the release of their Hungry Herps v2.0 Reptile Husbandry software for Windows operating systems.
The easy-to-use application gives keepers and breeders of reptiles and amphibians a much needed tool for maintaining the varied records associated with this growing national and international hobby / business.
"Herping has been a growing activity for the past few years, and as our own menagerie grew we searched everywhere for a software package that would allow us to track all the information we were gathering," noted company President, Dan Pleva. "With animals from multiple species, having multiple environmental requirements we were hard-pressed to keep track of everything. We posted notes on each enclosure listing temperature, humidity and feeding notes for each animal, but it got out of hand. Since there was nothing on the market that could track what each animal ate, and when...we decided to write a comprehensive product ourselves. Now, with a click of a button we can immediately identify our own Hungry Herps. We named the product (and the company) for this incredibly useful functionality! In addition, the many customizable reports have helped enormously with our records keeping for tax purposes."
The company's website www.hungryherps.com was launched this week and details the $49.95 software fully. It ships with reference data on 100+ Species, 100+ Global Habitats, 75+ Orders and 13 Herp Diseases. Because it's installation program is over 18MB it is not available for internet download. Instead, the company will ship a Fully Functional 30-day Evaluation CD-ROM to anyone who requests it.
With a Reptile Chat area, the site also provides instant access to animal information and support. Herpers may also want to check the site for Hungry Herps involvement with Regional and National Herpetological Associations, Shows and Events.
States the company, "Whether you have a large menagerie (or mini-zoo), are just getting started with this hobby, or are somewhere in between, we hope you got into keeping reptiles because you love them as much as we do! Making sure they're healthy and happy is the absolute key to it all. As a result your animals will be friendlier, live longer, enjoy their lives more, fend off diseases better, breed more successfully, etc. And, if our software can make your time with them more productive, then we've done our best to help your animals, too!"
