LifeCare Technologies Announces Major Perinatal System Enhancements New enhancements and 99.9% system uptime deliver the nations premier perinatal clinical information system

Clearwater, Florida -- LifeCare Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of point-of-care clinical information systems, announced today they have made several major enhancements to their Perinatal Information Network (PIN) system. The release of the PIN 8 system provides clients with 99.9% system uptime and increased clinical documentation capabilities. Existing customers on the PIN 7 system will be upgraded automatically at no charge. Customers with versions prior to PIN 7 will receive a 100% software credit and only pay for hardware, installation and training. Over 170 hospitals across the nation have installed the Perinatal Information Network.

It was very easy to upgrade to the new system and my staff is delighted with the added functionality," said Debbi Lowrance, Birth Center Nurse Manager at Crawford Memorial Hospital.

New enhancements include a database utility that provides statistical reports, enhanced charting menus and forms including well baby nursery and special care nursery (NICU). The introduction of the Archive Manager, Alarms Manager and improved patient name and system activity displays are also included in the PIN 8 system. The Archive Manager is a user interface into data archiving functions and the Alarms Manager allows the user to view the status of alarming patients throughout all departments.

The PIN 8 system encompasses all maternal and newborn documentation, creating paperless medical records and reports for all departments, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well baby and neonatal care. The systems process driven documentation was designed by perinatal nurses, imitates every step of the perinatal workflow and focuses on improved patient outcomes. Patient data flows to all relevant forms and flowsheets as clinicians document the care delivered. To help nurses with documentation, comprehensive menus make 95 percent of all data entry point and click. System menus also address JCAHO focus areas and ensure standardized charting across caregivers.
