MARMOT MOUNTAIN WORKS AND TEXTURE/MEDIA LAUNCH WWW.CLIMBMERU.COM
:: Climb Meru, The Sharksfin Experience - No climber has ever summitted
Himalaya's Meru, and no other Web site has been built with the depth this one contains...this multimedia experience chronicles the 13th attempt ever made on the peak. http://www.climbmeru.com
Boulder, CO - Dave Sheldon and Pete Takeda departed in April 2001 for their third attempt on the unclimbed 6,500 meter Meru Sharksfin summit. Marmot Mountain Works, a proven outdoor products manufacturer, and texture/media, inc., a Boulder-based interactive agency, have joined forces to bring this epic climb to Web and outdoors enthusiasts worldwide.
Now that the site has launched, follow their alpine-style attempt as it unfolds on www.climbmeru.com, the expeditions official "digital diary." Climbmeru.com serves as the campfire around which the climbers share their own unique story, telling it like it is. Survival in a grueling environment that almost defies description. Importantly the site will provide non-intrusive coverage of the trip -- no production sets or crews - enabling the climbers to focus as much as possible on the mountain at hand.
Climbmeru.com will be updated for an ongoing period of time as all of the elements going into the trip -- from the arduous planning, to the strain of training, to the exhaustive mental preparations -- vie to bear the fruit of not just a completed summit, but also a safe journey home.
"TheWeb site is geared toward engaging with our audience -- our friends, family, and all of our other supporters who jibe with the adventure lifestyle," said Pete Takeda, ClimbMerus Expedition Leader. "Were not doing this to become rich or famous - were just a couple of guys trying to accomplish something meaningful for us," he added.
The granite tooth, located in the Garhwal Himalayas, remains unclimbed despite a decade of strong international attempts.
