Experienced allergy nurse helps allergy sufferers at AllergyNursing.com

Registered Nurse launches website to share from real life experiences in working with Allergy patients and physicians, backed up with authoritative sources where you can research further. You can submit your allergy question, receive a free email Newsletter, or browse from the web.

FORT SMITH, Ark - August 7, 2001 - AllergyNursing.com was launched recently by a Registered Nurse with an impressive background in allergy nursing. Lois Turley R.N. has been answering patients' questions about allergies for ten years. Working full-time as Allergy Coordinator for a local Allergy Specialist provides her an up-to-date viewpoint of patients' questions and needs.

As 'Your Allergy Nurse' at AllergyNursing.com, Lois answers questions that patients in real-life as well as online are asking.

A free newsletter is published weekly. A form is provided on the website for readers to submit questions, and each newsletter answers and explains one of the questions readers are asking. "We can't respond individually to every question, but we will answer as many as we can in our Allergy Nursing Newsletter," Lois offers.

A Discussion Group for Allergy Professionals is also being organized, and it is offered from the website.

"I work in the heart of allergy country," Lois says. "The humid climate of the Arkansas/Oklahoma border along with the large variety of plants makes this area a 'crosswinds' of pollen activity from early spring to late fall. A patient recently said to me, 'When I first came to the area after living in New Mexico all my life, I was in awe of the greenery here.' But greenery often means misery for allergy sufferers," Lois observes.

The goal of AllergyNursing.com is to provide an online resource for patients as well as other nurses and medical professionals. According to Lois, nurses receive very little allergy training in nursing school. This will provide a means for nurses and other medical personnel to offer trusted answers and one-page print-outs to patients with questions about allergies. It will also provide an online source and weekly newsletter for anyone wanting to learn more about allergies.

Lois began planning the website and newsletter because she realized that nurses have long been patient advocates and are in a position to offer the most support and education for patients needing help. This will be offered completely free to consumers, with funds coming primarily from advertising support which will be kept entirely separate from editorial content.

Each answer Lois offers is carefully referenced with documented literature from respected and qualified sources in the field of Allergy. "AllergyNursing.com is not meant to substitute for advice from a physician, but rather to supplement the physician's advice with that special touch that nurses have," Lois says. "Busy physicians don't often have the time to elaborate, and physicians and patients alike know that they can depend on the nurse to explain things more thoroughly."

AllergyNursing.com is now accepting questions as well as subscriptions to the newsletter, which began publication in June.
