Student-run website nominated for Yell.com/Award 2001

DreamShares, a fantasy sport and music website run by a 21-year-old student, has been nominated for Best Game Site at the Yell.com/Awards 2001.

After thousands of nominations, Yell.com has announced that DreamShares is one of five sites shortlisted in the Best Games Site category at the Yell.com/Awards 2001 - the peoples choice of the 'best on the Net'.

DreamShares (www.dreamshares.com) is a free online fantasy sport and music game where players can trade fantasy shares in their favourite players and teams across six sports and over 400 music artists. Mark Fryer, a 21-year-old student at Durham University, set up the site in 1999 and continues to run it single-handedly. He said: "It was a big shock to be shortlisted, especially as I only started the site when I was avoiding doing revision for my exams at uni. It's a great feeling just to get some recognition for the many hours of hard work I've put into the site."

The judges now face the difficult task of selecting one winner in each of the twelve categories. The winning Websites will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony, hosted by Graham Norton, at the Atlantis Gallery in London on 3 October 2001. Sonique and Talvin Singh will be performing at the awards ceremony.
