Jennifer Ruma founded Makai in July 1999 with an aim to capture and market the way she feels with a great bag on her arm, "…confident, put together, and sexy". And now Makai handbags are available to everyone, not just those with sense enough to know that the handbag can make the woman.Makai, headquarted in New York City, recently launched its online store at makaihandbag.com. The store currently features Makais original collection that was developed for the Fall 2000 season. The collection combines the latest Italian materials— ultra-suedes, knits, and silks—with feminine shapes in subtle colors. The result is functional yet beautiful- classic handbags with distinctive personalities. Retail prices are between $80-$210.Beginning March 1, Makai will make the Spring 2001 Collection available on the site.
