160 Year Old Leather Goods Manufacturer Goes High Tech With Launch Of New Online Store.

Page Belting Company, a manufacturer of industrial belting in Concord, NH since 1868, launched a new internet store for its J.R. Hill & Co. division of consumer leather goods.

Established in 1840, J.R. Hill & Co. began to manufacture leather harnesses at its plant in Concord, New Hampshire. Soon after, its "Concord Harness" was considered to be the finest made and gained prominence with sales to high profile clients including the Wells Fargo Stage Line, Ringling Brothers Circus, and Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show.

In 1901, the company was purchased by Page Belting Company, Inc., also located in Concord, New Hampshire. At the time of purchase, Page Belting had already established itself as a leading manufacturer of industrial leather products. Founded in 1868 by Charles and George Page, the company enjoyed an enviable reputation for its high quality award-winning industrial leather belts, including leather "shock absorbers" used in the popular stage coaches known as the "Concord Coach." The teaming of the two firms made J.R. Hill and Page Belting a critical part of Concord's early economic success.

While high-quality leather belting products are still profitable, Mark Coen, the president of Page Belting, decided to utilize the company's blend of modern equipment and vintage machinery to produce high-end consumer leather goods to meet the demand of sophisticated travelers. With the assistance of his well-experienced Plant Manager, Curtis Ham, the company put J.R. Hill back on the map with products unparalleled for their quality of leather, workmanship, design, and utility.

With that established, Mark Coen decided to take the company into the new millennium and offer the JR Hill line of products for sale on the internet. With the assistance of Internet Services Director, Chris Neuman, the company is now doing business over the internet through its new web site JRHillandcompany.com (http://www.jrhillandcompany.com).

Leather aficionados will not want to miss the experience of owning these fine leather products. Based on the warm welcome onto the market, J.R. Hill expects to produce additional items in response to the company's new and growing demand.
