Blind and Vision Impaired create their own business
May we have a minute of your time?
Located within the South Dakota Lions Rehabilitation Center, innovative Blind Individuals have created their own business in the Midwest distributing and selling latex, vinyl, nitrile and other disposable gloves. These products are widely utilized within the medical community, food business, and numerous others (most businesses utilize these products).
After being supported by government for 27 years, the abandonment of governmental support over three years ago forced these vision-impaired individuals to search and create a viable business that would provide employment opportunities. Nationally the unemployment rate for blind and vision-impaired individuals is an average of 70%, the only option to retain employment was to aggressively pursue an entrepreneurial spirit and establish self-survival. The mission of employment has been retained and the authentic creation of a value added/cause related product has been launched effectively.
South Dakota Industries for the Blind is a business established to provide employment opportunities for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Our work force, made up of individuals with disabilities, is the backbone of our organization. We feel that we are some of the finest workers the Midwest has to offer. For over 30 years, we have been contributing members of our community. Just like you, we work for a paycheck and the satisfaction of knowing the job is well done.
We need your assistance!
