THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN NASHVILLE IS FINALLY OUT
LILMINX MUSIC PRESENTS "MY OWN ROAD", THE LONG-AWAITED DEBUT RECORDING BY DARCI MONET
Nashville, TN - Long kept out of the main spotlight singing back up for such highly notable artists as the Judds, Steve Winwood, Dolly Parton, Kim Carnes and John Hiatt as well as popular local Nashville pop/rock acts, Darci Monets time in the sun has finally come. With her debut recording entitled "My Own Road", Darci launches her career as an independent solo artist. She will be celebrating the release with a live show on January 20th at Nashvilles 12th & Porter Playroom at 9:00pm.
On the highly-anticipated album, produced by Darci along with Jim Sandefur and bass player/co-writer Keith Kenyon, Darcis powerful soul-tinged vocals and introspective lyrics combine with driving pop/rock melodies and chord progressions, offering a no-frills yet passion-filled listening experience. For Darci, who has lost 120 pounds since October 1998 via gastric bypass surgery, the album is the story of a woman going through a period of healing and self-discovery. "My Own Road", a guitar-laden power ballad about facing the fear of the unknown, became an obvious choice for the title track. "As we started writing the songs for this record, I realized a theme coming together," Darci states. "The emotional and physical journey I had been taking over the last two years showed up in all the songs but seemed to be summarized primarily in ‘My Own Road. It was exactly where I was in my life…a new beginning."
Says Lee Smith of Southeast Performer Magazine, "A twister of Wilson sisters-style pleading, blended with '90's modernism, has a sensual delivery that alternately snakes and gallops along like a 'Barracuda' in heat. Like the enlightened character of her songs, seems to be heading in the right direction...when hurricane Monet hits town, the only survivors will be those fortunate enough to check out this mature and promising new talent."
As a solo artist, Darci has been interviewed by MTV.com and has had four top ten hits on several music site charts including MP3.com, IUMA.com and Listensmart.com. She was a headliner on the Women of MP3 Tour when it hit Nashville last September and receives regular airplay on several internet radio stations. Darci was also included recently on a benefit compilation CD called "Women Rock", put out by the Say the Word Project (http://www.saytheword.org) which works to put an end to teen suicide. Darci will relocate to Los Angeles at the end of January to further pursue her career as a solo artist and professional studio musician.
