AVIATION INDUSTRIES CORP. REPORTS 1999 FINANCIAL RESULTS
Aviation Industries Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: AVIA) announced that 1999 annual revenues were $3,326,260 compared to $979,183 during the same period in 1998, an increase of 339%. The Company posted a net loss of $3,665,836 or $(0.320) for the year ended December 31, 1999, compared to a loss of $1,056,341 for the same period the year prior.
The loss of income during 1999 for Aviation Industries was attributable to the substantial loss of business in Biloxi, Mississippi, where two of Aviation Industries subsidiaries are located.
Reductions in airline commissions paid to travel agencies weighed heavily on the results of the Business Travel subsidiary in 1999. Business Travel has been successful in converting their accounts to a fee based commission structure, which is anticipated to return Business Travel to a profitable level.
A one-time write-down of $1,452,000 was attributed to goodwill. This write down had a significant impact on the Companys results of operations. Management does not feel that this will be warranted in the future. Aviation Industries has had success in generating new business in 2000 and thus far, unaudited results for the first nine months show a profit of $25,000. Aviation Industries will continue to pursue new business to increase shareholder value.
Travel Professionals Inc. also experienced a significant reduction in revenue as a result of the airlines new commission structures, affecting franchise revenue and stability, causing several of the franchise offices to close.
