JANUARY 18, 2001 -- As others watch the presidential inauguration on television January 20, LeFile.com ( http://lefile.com ) will be monitoring www.whitehouse.gov to record the moment when George W. Bush moves into the official web site of the U.S. President.
How fast and completely the new administration occupies the president's web site will be a test of its commitment to technology and to communications with the world, LeFile's editor William Dupuy said. LeFile.com is the online journal of corporate web site management.
Outgoing president Bill Clinton has already packed up to move out of the White House offices and living quarters, Dupuy said. But the White House web site remains filled with Clinton photos, white papers, reports, speeches and audio archives.
"What will replace those items -- and when -- will be fascinating to watch and to record for history," Dupuy said, "because a wholesale switchover of an official federal web site with all of its contents has never before happened in history."
