Beverly Hills, CA. Music has rocked the beauty world for so long, it is no wonder the latest beauty salons are following their lead. Fashion and hair follows the same trends of music. This was spotted early on by veteran Artistic Director, stylist and owner of Fusion salon, Jez Coxon. While training in the famous Toni & Guy salon in London, England, Jez directly experienced the innovations in London in the 1980s, considered the height of fashion in the world, at that time. Jez sees some of the same styles from that time period come back into fashion today and as he says, If only they knew where it came from!" Music has evolved on a very similar vein as fashion, from the hiphop and punk styles (straight off the streets of London and New York) to a hard rock look, such as Limp Bizkt. Music and fashion go hand in hand" says Jez, and often music dictates the fashion, no matter what country youre from. People still look up to rock stars, whether it is the younger set like Britney Spears, to the Ricky Martin look for guys. Also older clientele ask for Meg Ryan or Brad Pitt hair styles. They ask for a look or style based upon the image of their favorite stars, but something unique to them and their personality or look. We create it."
He named his salon in Beverly Hills Fusion" to capture just that aspect of fashion---the union of many different things, melting or blending into each other, creating a truly eclectic, explosive look. Jez has the exact background needed to create the unique styles of today. With extensive training in all forms of hair styling, then landing the Artistic Director position in Selvaggio, Rome to working fashion assignments for Italian Vogue, Elle, Passion International magazines, attending most of the great hair shows as Creative & Educational Director of the Ecoli product line,
Jez has paid his dues. His extensive knowledge and foresight, expanding to the United States, led to creating a place of his own, and in 1998 he opened Fusion" salon on the corner of an L.A. Historical Landmark, the Coronet Theater, which was built in the 30s. Keeping the artistic flair, it looks like a modern art gallery inside. Fusion has been presented on Good Morning LA", written up in Allure and Fab magazines and the clientele includes Hollywood celebs, musicians, actors, top D.Js as well as up & coming.
They all want a unique, individual style created for them, so thats what we do". The motto of the salon speaks for him ---dare to be different". They dont follow trends, they start them!
