Largest cable manufacturer in the Middle East employs biometrics to secure access control
FingerSec Biometric Security through its affiliate Communications Solutions of Saudi Arabia helps MESC to enhance its access control system utilizing latest technology fingerprint readers
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA-September 26, 2001
FingerSec Biometric Security, Corp. a cutting edge biometric technology integrator announced its newest access control installation at the Middle East Specialized Cables Manufacturing factory in Saudi Arabia.
The system was installed and designed by Communications Solutions Company, FingerSecs sole distributor in the Middle East and Africa Region. The system is based on the VeriFlex fingerprint recognition unit, manufactured by Bioscrypt, of Sherman Oaks, CA. The unit utilizes fingerprint recognition to verify the identity of the employees of the factory and guard access to secure areas of the building.
"Our VeriFlex access control unit can be easily integrated into existing access control systems, adding strong user authentication to existing access control systems. It accurately identifies the authorized users of the system," says Fabian Andrades, VP and founder of FingerSec. If the fingerprint of the person requesting access doesnt match with the one stored in the system, it will not grant access to the premises; it will also indicate the event in the system log."
- knew for some time that biometric access control was out there, but considered it too expensive," says Tawfiq Zakharia, General Manager of Communications Solutions Company, who designed and installed the system at the Middle East Specialized Cables premises. After reviewing several products for our customer, we decided that the VeriFlex was the best solution for the project " The installation covers 9 different entry points to secure entry locations to the factory, and in addition all entry and exit transactions recorded on the access control PC, were sorted out by the specially and locally developed Time Attendance software package by CSC, and eventually was linked to the payroll system.
The Veriflex is the strong user authentication solution for forward thinking organizations that require heightened security for their existing access control systems. The Veriflex makes it possible to add the security of fingerprint verification to any reader that is capable of providing Wiegand communication in an industry standard format. Organizations with keypads, bar code readers, and proximity card readers can now add fingerprint verification to their existing systems without replacing the existing reader infrastructure. The Veriflex have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $795 in the US. System integrator and multiple unit discount pricing are also available.
