LOCAL ONLINE JOB BOARD OFFERS FREE JOB POSTINGS TO EMPLOYERS THROUGH END OF 2001.
In battle against unemployment, online job board goes "non-profit" until 2002:
Seattle — In a move that could cost them thousands of dollars, SeattleRecruiter.com announced Friday they will offer free online job postings to employers until the end of the year. As the holidays approach, the company decided to wave all charges in contributing to the fight against rising unemployment rates. Employers are also able to search resumes posted daily by local job seekers, a service which will remain free. On January 1, 2002, job postings will return to their original price of $16.95 each.
The site is always free to job seekers, who can search and apply to job postings, and post their resume online with a few clicks.
The web site's parent company, Recruiter Networks, is offering the same special at the other 16 sites it operates in locations throughout the United States, including PortlandRecruiter.com, SanFranRecruiter.com, NewYorkRecruiter.com, LosAngelesRecruiter.com, SacramentoRecruiter.com, PhoenixRecruiter.com, WashingtonRecruiter.com, DenverRecruiter.com, AtlantaRecruiter.com, HonoluluRecruiter.com, MiamiRecruiter.com, BaltimoreRecruiter.com, New EnglandRecruiter.com, OrlandoRecruiter.com, PhiladelphiaRecruiter.com, and SaltLakeCityRecruiter.com.
The news came just days after an announcement by the company's largest competitor, Monster.com, who on Wednesday said it would be laying off around 10 percent of its staff. Job postings on SeattleRecruiter.com cost employers about 85% less than those on Monster.
