Original Inventor of "Sushi Candles" launches New Web Site from Hawaii
New retail web site offering hand rolled beeswax sushi candles and other unique handmade gifts from Hawaii. Created by a husband and wife team who are both artists. (We invented sushi candles in 1996 and now find that there are so many other companies who have copied our designs and are profitting from our idea. We want people to at least know who invented them).
Deep in the rainforest on the Big Island of Hawaii, a husband and wife team have been designing and crafting unique handmade candles since 1996. Double Brush was formed when Stephen and Cheryl Murakami who are both artists, hence the name Double Brush, decided to create a home business to support their art making. However, it wasnt until Cheryl came up with the idea for sushi candles that things really started to roll.
The question I am asked most often is how did I come up with the idea to make sushi candles" said Cheryl. I was out shopping with my mother one day and saw some hand rolled beeswax taper candles. I was attracted to the honeycomb texture of the beeswax, but frankly it looked very plain. I thought about what else could I roll up that would be fun and distintive, and I immediately thought of my favorite food. I had spent many hours learning to roll sushi, for every special occassion, in my mother-in-laws kitchen. Switching from rice to wax turned out to be a natural transition for me."
Since then, Double Brush has been, and continues to wholesale their unique hand rolled beeswax sushi candles to stores across the United States. With the posting of their new web site www.DoubleBrush.com, Cheryl feels it gives them a chance to have a closer relationship with the people who enjoy their creations. All of their candles are carefully measured from beeswax sheets, cut, rolled or shaped by hand, and then packaged in authentic japanese bento" take-out containers. Tied with a natural raffia bow, the presentation is personal and tasteful. Cheryl said that many people tell her they buy her sushi candle sets for the obvious sushi and candle lover, but also for hostess gifts and for housewarmings.
With sushi varieties such as futomaki, hosomaki, musubi, inside-out rolls, and more, they boast of having the largest selection of sushi candles on the web or anywhere else. If you dont see a set you want, they will make you a custom set at no extra charge. They also have added new wedding and party favor" packaged candles.
In the past few years Double Brush has increased their product line to include tropical and ocean themed candles, kona coffee votive candles, and hawaiian endangered species finger puppet postcards from an original concept, and artwork that Cheryl drew. New and delightful items are added regularly. You can be sure that whatever this creative couple comes up with, it will follow their company motto: We innovate, not imitate.
