Vulcan Launches 3D Synthetic Speech Mail Application!

The Vulcan Portal is a unique application, designed to digitally distribute Vulcan's PC games direct to the users desktop. Additionally the Portal incorporates 3D guides (avatars) who speak to you using synthesised speech. Users can define their own 3D personas and communicate with other Portal users via voice mail.

After 2 years of technology building and 9 months of intense beta
testing, Vulcan Software have officially released their Vulcan Portal
Application.

Director Paul Carrington states,

" We are slowly feeling the excitement, as our 3d episodic games are nearing
completion, but most of all we are extremely proud to be able to release
the Vulcan Portal as product within it's own right."

The Vulcan Portal (the application that will eventually digitally
distribute Vulcan's forthcoming games) is also a 'community building'
application, that offers an exciting and entertaining method of
communication.

It allows it's users to, send and receive 3d voice mail.

What's that? Well it's a bit like email, but instead of reading text,
everyone appears as a 'real time' 3 dimensional head (utilizing
Vulcan's Mother 3D technology) that synthetically talks with perfect
lip synch.

As a user, you can define how you want to appear by choosing from the
default models and skins, or if feeling adventurous, design your own
skin and upload it to the community server. You also have the ability
to define your own synthetic speech parameters covering gender, pitch
and speed and use speech manipulation symbols within your own
'text based' mail, to provoke whispering or excitement etc. The result
is that your 3d head will speak your mail to the person who receives it.

The Portal and it's synthetic speech system operates in six languages,
including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
Current features include, access to the growing community centre, where
you can upload your own identity and also view 'other members' identities,
offering the further ability to download their skins. It also has an
address book for storing past communication and an In and Out tray for
sending and receiving 3d voice mail.

Vulcan Software claim that the Vulcan Portal is 'like nothing you have
ever seen or heard before!'. It is a robust application which
incorporates it's own unique graphical style, layered with advanced
3d and synthetic speech technology. It truly is an application with a
brain and all functions and operations are spoken to you via 3d guides.

Another important feature of the Portal is that it has the ability to
upgrade itself to new versions (approximately 1 new version per week)
and with each new version comes a new feature, such as the ability to
download games and applications that Vulcan make available for digital
distribution, or receive daily gaming news spoken by 3d news readers.

And finally, it's completely free.
