CHILDRENS HOPE FOUNDATION SEEKS RELIEF FOLLOWING SEPTEMBER 11 ATTACK
Children's Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps better the lives of HIV positive children, has been greatly effected by the September 11 attacks.
Following the World Trade Center attacks on September 11th, Childrens Hope Foundation (PRWEB) October 12, 2001 -profit organization designed to help better the lives of HIV positive children and teens throughout New York, was among the hundreds of businesses left in a state of uncertainty. CHFs offices, located at 11 Park Place in lower Manhattan, were just reopened today, and board members, staff and volunteers are scrambling to regain some level of functionality. While the attacks have certainly brought things to an unpredicted halt, CHF realizes the importance of continuing to serve the community of HIV/AIDS affected children and teens of New York, and are seeking the donations necessary to make this possible.
Each year CHF hosts a benefit that raises an approximate $250,000 – funding which is crucial to the existence of the organization. The event, which this year was scheduled for November 13th, had to be cancelled due to current circumstances. With this loss, and other fundraising and prospecting being severely slowed due to the lack of access to their offices, CHF is seeking support in the form of donations and emergency grants to help rebuild their organization and aid those who rely on its support.
We have sustained a great loss following these attacks, but are confident that with some help, we can continue to service the HIV-affected communities that rely on us," says Carole Treston, Executive Director, Childrens Hope Foundation. We are asking for donations to help us rebuild, and to prevent Childrens Hope Foundation from becoming another loss to this September 11 disaster."
Last year alone, CHF partnered with 120 clinics and social service and community based organizations in the New York metropolitan area. They currently serve over 3,400 HIV positive children, teens and their families with services and activities that support them through emergencies, link them to critically needed services and greatly enhance their overall quality of life. CHF accomplishes these services through eight program or service delivery areas including: Childcare Necessities, Pain Management, Children and Family Events, Hospital and Home Care Equipment, Emergency Funds, Outreach and Education, TeensMatter and SuperFriends.
I am very concerned about meeting the cost of operations," Treston continues. Our usual fundraising and prospecting is curtailed, and without our annual benefit, our reserve is extremely low."
Donations for CHF can be made to: Childrens Hope Foundation, 11 Park Place, Suite 1203, New York, NY 10007.
