eezofminders announced today that it is launching a unique back up childcare service in the UK. Founded in February of this year, the company is able to offer trusted short-term childcare for those occasions when regular arrangements break down or are unavailable. Through the largest network of its type, eezofminders is the only UK company dedicated to serving the back up childcare needs of working parents.

What happens when a familys usual childcare arrangements break down, for example if the childminder or nanny is ill? Whether planned or unexpected, the prospect of missing a day or two of work because of a childcare situation can be a major source of stress for most working parents.

And these problems are facing a growing number of employees with more and more women returning to work after having children. According to a recent survey by CCH in the US, 26% of employees missed work because of family related issues. Breakdowns with usual childcare arrangements cause significant stress to the vast majority of working mothers and fathers" says Kevin Brent, founder of eezofminders and father of two young boys And up until now the only real back up has been to call on family or friends, or to take time off work."

eezofminders research conducted amongst parents earlier this year suggests that childcare arrangements break down around 8 times a year, half the time because of childcarer issues and half due to child sickness. According to the national leader in corporate backup childcare in the US, ChildrenFirst, childcare arrangements break down 8-10 times per year – costing employers an average of more than 2,500 per employee annually.

eezofminders is addressing these issues in the UK in a unique way. The company has built a network of registered nurseries, childminders and qualified nannies across the UK who are able to provide trusted care at short notice. Parents and employers register in advance and then simply call eezofminders whenever they need support. Nurseries also benefit from the network through the provision of qualified support staff for their own back up staffing needs.

There is clearly a need for back up childcare services in the UK" said Jacqueline Moss, director of Nord Anglia Nurseries – one of the UKs leading nursery groups eezofminders is addressing this need in a way that also supports nurseries and other childcare providers."
