Long Beach, CA - October 18, 2001 - ASTRALcom Internet Solutions [http://www.astralcom.com] in a partnership with LongBeachCulture.org [http://www.longbeahculture.org] announced today The Henry Mancini Institute had selected them to work together in developing a new virtual community model for the Institute.

While educational opportunities for aspiring musicians abound at conservatories and university music schools throughout the country, few provide the answer to what it means to be a professional musician in today¹s world.

The Henry Mancini Institute answers the question by providing a unique environment where accomplished young musicians gain valuable experience playing the kinds of music they will be called upon to perform and create in their professional careers. It is here that they learn what it means to play in a symphony or a trio, compose for a big band, arrange a Top-40 chart, or perform music for the movies.

In addition to hands-on instruction from the Institute¹s world-class faculty, the 84 musicians enrolled in the four-week program are exposed to the industry, including history, business, contracting and production. All participants receive a full scholarship, which includes tuition, room and board.

"The Henry Mancini Institute already has the basic foundation in place for communicating its message via the web. They want to add value, both for their students/alumni and for the community, by integrating visitor retention, community outreach and value added functionality," explained Erik Jensen, Director of Design at ASTRALcom Internet Solutions.

"We are thrilled to be working with such an important and well-respected musical institution," said Sander Roscoe Wolff, Executive Director of Long Beach Culture.org. "Our on-line system will help the Institute provide important value-added tools to students and alumni alike."

The Henry Mancini Institute's new web site will allow students and alumni to create individual web pages for themselves that will include audio clips of their music and information about themselves. Through the Institute's outreach program, the local community will also be able to learn when and where the Henry Mancini Institute students and alumni are playing live and about local civic events and workshops.
