Help and Hope from the Bahamas with Childrens eBooks

Help and Hope from the Bahamas with Childrens eBooks

Leading up to Christmas, the Bahamas first ebook publishing company, Granny Jo Publications http://www.grannyjo.com, will be donating part proceeds from their childrens ebook sales to the Red Cross disaster relief fund for those victimized by the September 11th terrorist attacks in the U.S.

Ebooks ("electronic books") are revolutionizing the publishing world and Bahamian business partners Fay Knowles and Gavin Knowles (also mother and son) recently launched their new web site to offer childrens illustrated ebooks with a traditional theme.

Granny Jos first ebook is "Little Rhymes for Bedtimes" by Jo Johanson, delightfully illustrated by Sheila Williams.

In keeping with the outpouring of grief and concern from Bahamians for those in America affected by the deadly attacks, one dollar from every sale during the next two months of "Little Rhymes" will be donated by Granny Jo Publications to the relief fund.

Only the highest standard in traditional childrens ebooks from around the world will be accepted by Granny Jo Publications.

Says ebook and website designer Gavin: "We felt there was a need for affordable, top quality, traditional ebooks that parents could purchase for their children. Our next ebook will be ‘Scampi Grows Up, about a naughty puppy who learns some lessons in life!"

A parent first pulls up the web site, http://www.grannyjo.com, then previews the ebook. If they like what they see, they purchase the low cost ebook in a secure area online. The ebook can then be downloaded to their computer or printed out.

The parent either reads the downloaded ebook to their children, "turning" each page on the computer, shows the children how to read the ebook themselves or the printed version is read.

In these troubled times, incorporating the traditional and the modern gives children continuity and at the same time, hope.
