Technology Leaders Team Up to Offer Breakthrough Browser and Safety Service to Families

Tokyo Japan, October 24, 2001 -- SurfMonkey Inc., the leading family Internet technology company, has teamed up with NTT Communications Corp. (NTT Com), Japan's largest long distance telephone service company, and Open Communication Network (OCN), one of Japan's largest Internet Service Providers, to launch a new children's Internet service called "OCN Kids" in Japan. OCN Kids, which is scheduled to launch in late October, will provide children with a safer, more fun place to explore and learn on-line.

The OCN Kids service features a unique browser designed especially for kids, as well as next-generation parental controls that help parents manage not only the Web content their children see, but who they talk to and which applications they use. All of the services have been localized for the Japanese market by SurfMonkey's team in Asia. The service boasts the first technology of its kind to filter Web pages on the fly in Japanese.

"NTT Com and other Internet Service Providers around the world recognize the importance of Internet safety to their customers," said Charles Hart, chairman and CEO of SurfMonkey. "SurfMonkey has customized and translated its browser and safety service into seven different languages in order to improve the Internet experience for kids worldwide, making it more fun, safer and easier."

A free trial service is planned for November and December. During the free trial period, non-OCN subscribers can also try the new OCN Kids service free of charge. Beginning in January of 2002, commercial service will be offered to OCN service subscribers for a monthly service charge.

Over the past five years, SurfMonkey Inc. has deployed a world-class team of computer scientists and engineers to develop a unique and comprehensive platform that elevates the Internet experience for children and families worldwide. In June, FamilyPC Magazine awarded SurfMonkey the highest rating among top family Internet sites, including Disney.com, Sesame Workshop, Sports Illustrated for Kids and Nick.com.
