Chicago, IL NAR Conference (November 2, 2001) -- Offutt Systems, Inc., a Greensboro, NC-based Multiple Listing Service provider, has developed an integrated mobile MLS application, Pocket-Innovia, for its users and other realtors. Offutt, an established and leading internet based MLS software provider, was the first in the industry to provide a real-time wireless interface to its Internet based Innovia MLS system in December of 2000. Offutt has strategically aligned with Nevalon Technologies of Raleigh, NC to bring its Pocket-Innovia product to market, which includes enhanced mobile functionality and multi- platform support.

Pocket-Innovia is unique in that it provides three mobile application service levels on the same platform. It was designed on the Nevalon mobile application server architecture and allows the realtor to select the type of mobile service level he or she requires: 1) Real-time wireless Internet access, 2) Distributed download for Palms, or 3) A distributed Windows Powered Pocket PC -based version that is the most advanced and includes pictures and enough storage to hold all MLS listings and pictures. Pocket-Innovia is designed on an open architecture and supports the RETS standard so the product can be used by any MLS organization or board of realtors, regardless of the current MLS system they have in place today.

Results from IDC's mobile enterprise survey show Microsoft's Pocket PC Software platform is clearly threatening Palm's market position. Approximately 36% of respondent companies (>500 handheld devices in use) are "planning on" or "considering" the Pocket PC platform for standardization. This compares with just 20.9% of respondents that are planning on or considering standardizing on Palm OS devices. "The recent debut of Pocket PC 2002 with critical features, such as VPN support and a terminal server client, positions Pocket PC -based handhelds as powerful tools within the enterprise," said Randy Giusto, of IDC.
The Offutt Pocket-Innovia product is now available to Offutt customers and other MLS organizations. The Pocket-Innovia wireless Internet version and Pocket PC -based versions are available immediately and the distributed Palm version is planned for January 2002.
