Introduction to Localization: Managing the Release of Multilingual Products
peerPros has made available "Introduction to Localization: Managing the Release of Multilingual Products" an instructor-led, one-on-one training workshop.
This course covers localization as a profession from the prospective of an individual or organization tasked with managing the release of multilingual products.
Designed for professionals in the IT industry, including Technical Writers, Project Mangers, Product Managers, Marketing Professionals, Computer Programmers, Engineers and high level Managers - this course covers all disciplines within the profession of localization.
Coursework will focus on both the client side and vendor operations. This course will provide the student with an introduction to localization as an industry. Coursework will focus specifically on internationalization and localization of software, documentation, help systems and graphics. It will cover such areas as operational models, project management, outsourcing strategies, localization tools and technologies and process workflow. There will also be a focus on localization vendor operations and how they interact with the publishing side of operations. Suggested reading textbook (not required),

This workshop is facilitated by Shaun Daggett who has an extensively diverse background in product localization, internationalization and globalization. He is considered an expert in client-side localization process development and management.
Shaun has derived his well-rounded experiences from many years of experience in both client and vendor operations. Shaun is the former Owner and President of KeySoft Enterprises, a small software development company that produced global products. He also held the positions of Localization Manager at Hewlett-Packard, the Director of US Operations of the Bureau of Translation Services (BTS-WordHouse), and the Sr. Manager of Globalization at FrontRange Solutions Inc., formerly GoldMine Software.
Shaun has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, is Project Management Certified, is an active member of the Project Management Institute, and actively participates in LISA, ATA, and STC conferences. Shaun is the Editor-in-Chief of The ClientSide News and President of Shaun P. Daggett Consulting.
