RealScale Technologies Introduces Revolutionary Thin Client Wired and Wireless Implementations

i-Cluster Blade Servers empower Thin Client systems implementation: the most cost-effective solution for accessing business critical information and applications

Sophia Antipolis, France - November 5th 2001 - RealScale Technologies Inc. today announced that the company has validated innovative wired and wireless Thin Client solutions, based on its ultra-dense and highly available i-Cluster Intel®-based Blade Server platform.

Enterprises are looking for innovative ways to optimize their communication and working environments," said Serge Dujardin, President of RealScale Technologies. The i-Cluster Thin Client solution is the most efficient and secure solution to consolidate the enterprise information system: one cabinet can host up to 21 (twenty-one) 2-U rack-mountable chassis, each one hosting 12 Blade Servers that share resources such as Ethernet switches, cables, fans and power supplies. In our Thin Client implementation, employee profiles and applications are hosted on dedicated Blade Servers, instead of being on each desktop PC."

"This innovative implementation allows for centralized hardware upgrades (by adding i-Cluster Blade Servers to the server farm), centralized software upgrades (distributed once to all clients across the network, eliminating version control and licensing problems) and centralized monitoring and repair," added Serge Dujardin. Application and profile management services are upgraded by simply adding Blade Servers to the existing Server Farm, without shutting down the system. As a result, less IT employees are required to support more users. Moreover IT technicians can remotely repair, maintain or upgrade Blade Servers."

For even more flexibility, RealScale has validated its platform for a wireless Thin Client solution. With the explosive growth in the number of networked computers and with todays office layout changes, professionals are demanding an easy and fast way to plug in" to the corporate network," said Jean-Christophe Pari, CTO of RealScale Technologies. In large enterprise networks, installing new cables is often expensive, inconvenient and time-consuming. With wireless, you can connect multiple users quickly and easily. Its more affordable than opening up walls, wiring hard-to-reach places or building new infrastructures. Wireless LANs can be quickly and easily deployed, disassembled or reconfigured."

Our wireless implementation is ideal for ad hoc workgroups: wireless LANs can be quickly installed, configured and placed into service for temporary offices, dedicated project teams, disaster recovery operations, etc. Moreover wireless LANs represent a one-time investment that can be carried from site to site without incurring any installation costs," added Jean-Christophe Pari.

The i-Cluster offering is ready for shipment. Prices for i-Cluster based High Availability Blade Servers start at $990. For more information about price and availability, please contact RealScale at: sales@realscale.com.
