The concept of involving the audience in the production right from the beginning had always insured it would have a place in cinematic history. Thousands of people recognized this and signed up without even a cast or director in place. Furthermore, they gave the project their ultimate vote of confidence--cash.

The offer to own part of your own movie for as little as US$50 had been a wonderful success, and the producers are deeply appreciative of the confidence and enterprising spirit which has been expressed by people all over the globe in driving what is now a force of its own--

Now that the word is out, Sunnyside Films is being backed by the best.
Inspired by the concept and the support it has received from thousands of people on-line, Sunnyside Films is delighted to announce that actor Patrick Bergin has joined the companys board of directors. Mr. Bergin adds his vast experience in both international and domestic filmmaking, and is considering a key role in the production. Mr. Bergin has an impressive list of credits to his name, having been seen in high-profile features such as Patriot Games, Map of the Human Heart, Mountains of the Moon and Sleeping with the Enemy with Julia Roberts.
When Jim Sheridan, director of My Left Foot, and In the Name of the Father needed the best legal counsel possible, he went to Mr. James J. Hickey of Matheson, Ormsby, Prentice. Mr. Hickey has an impressive list of credits that span over twenty years in the film industry. Now he has joined with Sunnyside and its members to guide Miss June through all of the legal and contractual issue required for the production and distribution.
Miss June is an ensemble comedy centering on Charlie Martin, who uses the varied talents of his comrades in a low security Irish "open" prison to forge a secret syndicate to purchase and train a horse for the Galway Races. Charlie over-sees the horses training when out on week-end passes, struggling to keep the potentially dangerous men involved content, maintain his tenuous freedoms, and court Niamh, the horses beautiful original owner, who has stayed on as a part of the syndicate. Miss June becomes a source of pride, opportunity, and unique rehabilitation for the men. During the scripting process, prison officials, trainers, jockeys, and breeders were consulted, making for the type of humorous and astonishing plot twists that only the truth could allow. Miss June is intended for a wide, commercial audience, without explicit sex, violence, or language. In the spirit of regional comedies like Waking Ned Devine and The Full Monty , Miss June utilizes the wit of Ireland with a mind towards a global audience.
While also utilizing traditional film financing sources and large capital lenders, the Miss June cyber-syndicate is an exciting new way for audiences to support and enjoy films. Gift certificates are even available. Members have access to all aspects of the website, including the producers diary, and invitations to special parties and filming events. Members at the $500 level will also be invited to the Irish premiere. The ultimate return for all members, large and small, will be based upon the profits the film generates as it is presented around the world on screen and through television broadcast, video, soundtrack, and DVD rights. Similar internet film financing endeavors have proven wildly successful in Asia. Limited shares offered on-line for the Korean film Friends were snatched up quickly, and the produced movie was an Asian block-buster.
Producer Sam Roch Perks, co-founder of the Delaneys Irish Pub chain in the Far East and managing director of Celtic Concepts, has started many Irish-themed businesses through-out the world. The story of the film was his brain child, and he has combined these successful Asian financing strategies with a bit of Irish-sweepstakes style inventiveness.
The story of Miss June concerns a group of diverse people coming together for a bit of a "flutter," so it seemed only natural to the producers to promote the film and website with a contest. Their Irish Movie Adventure Sweepstakes, in which visitors to the makingmissjune.com website can win a luxurious all expenses paid trip for two to Ireland to mingle with cast and crew, caught the attention of Ascendant Media, a Nashville, Tennessee based internet and media company. Ascendant has created a masterful internet resource that combines hundreds of on-line sweepstakes into one easily maneuvered website, EZsweeps.com. Ascendant Medias business development manager, Joe Steelman says, "This is definitely our freshest campaign. Their site displays a truly independent spirit, where participants become real contributors to the overall success of the project."
In the very first week of this on-going promotion in conjunction with EZsweeps.com, 67,000 potential members surveyed the makingmissjune.com site and entered the Irish Movie Adventure Sweepstakes. Many chose to become members, even as awareness of the project was raised.
Presently, makingmissjune.com has over 210,000 members and associate members, the numbers growing daily.
Miss June producers Pam and Glyn Carragher are owners of Hofnaflus Teo production company in County Galway, Ireland, and have an extensive track record in television and film production. With Perks, they have been avidly promoting the film to horse lovers, film buffs, and Irish living abroad. Miss June garnered enthusiastic reactions at the August meeting of the Galway Races and at the Dublin Royal Show, where hundreds of new members and extras for the films auction and racing scenes were signed up.
Producer Glyn Carragher recently attended the Milwaukee Irish Festival, an annual week-long event where over 140,000 lovers of Irish culture come together, and met with a terrific response there. Festival favorites Off Kilter, a band which blends heavy metal and traditional Celtic music, have been approached to contribute to the diverse Miss June soundtrack. Off Kilter has an extensive fan following, have entertained hundreds of thousands though their appearances at Disney Worlds Epcot Center. Made up of members from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and Ireland, Off Kilter reflects the global sensibilities of the project.
With world-renown creative and productive forces now falling into place, and site membership growing by the hour, it is becoming evident that an audience-driven project is a concept worth listening to--250,000 members cant be wrong!
