New PatrioticBracelet.com website gives customers and Red Cross proceeds from sale. Customers choose sterling charms to support relief efforts.
Brenda Portwood, owner of Etc.,Etc. Christian Jewelry, wanted to help the relief efforts through her business and came up with a unique idea. Custom design a patriotic bracelet and give customers an incentive to spread the word while giving a portion of the proceeds to the American Red Cross. Affiliates earn a commission and the Red Cross gets $5.00 per sale.
A day after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, Brenda Portwood went shopping for an American flag. Well, that was an impossible task as all were sold out. That's when she realized she might be able to help the relief efforts in her own way. Brenda designed a special bracelet, complete with red, white, and blue beads to allow people to "wear their patriotism." Additionally, customers may actually choose the sterling charms they want included on their custom hand-crafted piece. Charms include American flag, the Cross, Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, Twin Towers, and Forget-Me-Knot.
"Every time I look down and see that bracelet it reminds me. It keeps it all in my mind and heart," Portwood said.
From the time she put the first bracelet on, people wanted to know where she got it. When her husband put the bracelet on the internet at http://www.patrioticbracelet.com orders started coming in from all over the country. "We can help those in need through the donation, continue to support the economy, and offer a commission to our affiliates who recommend us. It's a win, win, win situation," Russell Portwood commented.
The Portwoods are no strangers to the hand-crafted jewelry business. The Etc., Etc., Christian Jewelry creations can be found in over 200 Christian bookstores nationwide. Portwood is a member of the Christian Booksellers Association and has been featured in numerous publications.
