FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(SAN DIEGO, CA  Nov. 19, 2001) A group of locals has produced ÂThe Fireman Song Â, also known as ÂThe Ballad of Mike Moran to help raise money for the New York City relief effort. The popular song was inspired by the now famous statement made by Mike Moran, a New York City Firefighter who spoke directly to Osama bin Laden during the Concert For New York at Madison Square Garden aired by VH-1 on October 20, 2001. While on stage with fellow firefighters and actor Michael J. Fox, Moran asked to say a few words in remembrance of his brother, John Moran, also a fellow firefighter who lost his life in the tragic attack of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Mike had this bold message:
"Osama bin Laden, you can kiss my royal Irish ass!"
The rest is history....
That quote summed up the sentiments and feelings of not just the community of Irish firefighters, police officers and rescue workers, but of millions of citizens around the world. Stemming from that statement, the lyrics were developed for this song - paying tribute to those brave and now lost firefighters and rescue workers on the scene at the World Trade Center.
The proposed cost of the CD is $9.11 It's purpose is to be a fundraising product. The net profits from the sale of the CD project will be donated to assist those directly affected by the disaster.
