Equal to the Eco-Challenge"
Topeak Sponsors 8th Annual "Eco-Challenge" in New Zealand

DATELINE: FOXBORO, MA; ISSUED NOVEMBER 26, 2001 . . .
Topeak, manufacturer of the world's finest emergency toolkits and bicycle accessories, is now a sponsor of "Eco-Challenge," the world's premier expedition race, held October 21 - 31, in New Zealand.

Created in 1992 by Mark Burnett, who also created the hit television series, "Survivor", "Eco-Challenge" is the world's toughest expedition race. Teams of four -- comprised of both men and women -- must race non-stop for 6 to 12 days over a rugged 300 mile course, using mountain biking, river rafting, horseback riding, mountaineering, fixed rope, kayaking and navigation skills.

Attracting the best adventure athletes from around the world, "Eco Challenge" is a race that demands much more than individual physical prowess. Its essence lies in team dynamics and the ability to solve problems under constant stress, with little sleep and little food. Only teams that can work together have any hope of reaching the finish line. If a team loses a member due to illness, fatigue, injury or disagreement it is automatically disqualified. The first team to cross the finish line together is the winner.

This year, Topeak sponsored the Netstreet Financial team, comprised of Tommie Wright and her male teammates, Danny Moy, Greg Klein and Mark Love. Topeak outfitted the Netstreet Financial team with Quick Release Beam Racks and Quick Track Trunk Bags.

Designed for ease of use and fast transitions, Topeak's QR Beam Rack series mounts in seconds to a bike's seat post, using a hinged clamp with a quick release lever. All QR Beam Racks feature Topeak's patented QuickTrack bag mounting system, providing easy on/off of Topeak's QT trunk bag series. While perfect for an elite endurance race, like the "Eco-Challenge," Topeak's versatile beam racks and bags have been designed for the convenience of the everyday rider.

These and other Topeak products are available at fine bike stores throughout the country, or can be ordered online at the Topeak website. From compact toolkits to SmartHead pumps, Topeak makes what a cyclist needs. For the latest in cycling accessories, contact Topeak at www.topeak.com, or call (800) 213-4561.
