Sound Particle Discovered in Atlanta
Researchers from Solution Science Systems stated that they have discovered a new sound particle called a phonoton. Though the existence of this sub-atomic particle has been a controversial subject among theoretical physicists for decades, the Solution Science team believes that they have isolated it in their lab.
In a news conference today, researchers from Solution Science Systems stated that they have discovered a new sound particle called a phonoton. "The phonoton is the elementary particle that underlies certain sound waves," said Robert MacGrogan, Director of Applied Vibratronic Alloy Research. "The existence of the phonoton was theorized by my mentor, Dr. Julius Trombono, back in the 1940s, but I can hardly express how gratifying it feels that it was my team that actually isolated the phonoton and proved its existence."
The phonoton is roughly analogous to the more familiar photon, said the researchers. "The difference," said Andy Tegethoff, Chief of Low-Frequency Oscillations, "is that while the photon represents a packet of light, the phonoton represents a packet of sound energy." Like photons, phonotons display different particle and wave behavior, depending on experimental conditions.
"There have been various mathematical phonotonic proofs over the years," said Kelly Shane, Chair, Department of Hyper-Conceptualization, "but the problem has been how to actually test the phonoton's existence in a laboratory setting. These particles don't normally occur in nature. Almost by chance, we discovered that certain petroleum based discs, placed into the proper device, spun at a rate of .5555 revolutions per second, would create phonotonic radiation. These discs were mass-produced in the 1970s, but no one realized their significance at the time."
One of the controversies surrounding the phonoton is the particle also shows wave-like the characteristics. Yet most scientists consider sound frequencies as waveforms, not particles. The wave/particle duality of phonoton theory is at the center of the debate. "There may be certain relativistic psychoacoustic forces involved," acknowledges Tegethoff. "Research is in progress."

"In Solution Science," said MacGrogan, "and especially applied to phonotonic and vibratronic alloy research, sound is essential. Some of the sounds produced are polyrhythmic and do involve progressive tonal and atonal sequencing, quite the opposite of the scientific definition of 'noise. "
