Mobile content specialist Ringtones.co.uk charts the best-selling pop ringtones of the year: Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me" is the top pop tone

Mobile content specialist Ringtones.co.uk has revealed the years most popular music ringtones in its first-ever annual Top 10 sales chart.

King of the pop ringtones for 2001, with more than double the sales of the second-placed tone
is Shaggys It Wasnt Me. Interestingly, S Club 7s recently voted Record of the Year from
Saturdays ITV show, Dont Stop Moving was only in 6th place, and the Smash Hits single of
the year - Atomic Kittens Whole Again - failed to make the Top 20 tones. The pop ringtones
sales chart countdown is:

2.   Stan:   Eminem feat. Dido
3.   Cant Get You Out Of My Head: Kylie Minogue
4.   Dancing In The Moonlight: Toploader
5.   Do You Really Like It:   DJ Pied Piper
6.   Dont Stop Moving: S Club 7
7.   Big Brother (theme from): Paul Oakenfold
8.   Because I Got High: Afro Man
9.   Get Ur Freak On: Missy Elliot
10.   Clint Eastwood:   Gorillaz

Classic tones also scored heavily alongside the pop chart hits. The theme from the film and TV series Mission: Impossible beat Shaggy to the title of 2001s overall best-selling tone by just 500 sales. Other favourites such as the Great Escape and Italian Job theme were also popular.

Ringtones.co.uk has supplied ringtones and logos to over 1.2 million mobile phones in 2001. Mobile users make their choice of ringtone or logo from Ringtones.co.uks website, or by dialing a special number, and the choice is delivered to their phone by SMS message, for around 2 per item.

Surveys reveal nearly 60% of mobile phone owners in England prefer to have custom ringtones, and 60% of these change their ringtone on a regular basis. And mobile phone industry sources say teenagers believe having an icon on their phone highlights their personality.
