Sir Steve Redgrave launches the worlds first Rowing Vortal using latest technology from Relevare

Relevare launches new Rowing site, www.rowingvortal.com in association with Sir Steve Redgrave. The site is uses new technology to provide easy access to all useful rowing related information available on the Web.

Rowing enthusiasts are among the first to benefit from new technology from Relevare that enables them to access all rowing related information available on the Web from one single site.

The rowing vortal, www.rowingvortal.com is powered by Relevare using its Obvius Web solution on behalf of Supersprint Rowing and the Rowing Service.

Research* shows that 71% of net users encounter frustrations when looking for information. Additional research shows that Web users behave more like divers than surfers, giving themselves short time limits to look for information before surfacing and looking elsewhere.

Relevares unique technology ensures all rowing content has been filtered for pornography, dead links, duplicate and out of date materials. Rowing information is accessed via Relevares award winning** iconic interface where information is found by clicking on a series of icons instead of keying in text. This ensures the site is simple and intuitive to use and enables users to navigate the site easily. Relevares navigational tools will also guide users to other areas of which they may not have known existed.

Sir Steve Redgrave, CEO and co-founder of Supersprint Rowing commented:

Thanks to Relevares technology we are able to offer more than 30,000 active rowers in the UK, and millions of rowing enthusiasts world-wide, an advanced rowing site. It provides access to all the latest information about rowing, such as events listings, clubs, news, and results that is available on the Internet.

Its now possible for rowers and enthusiasts to visit our site and know they can access any rowing information they might need. Using the latest technology, rowers will only find information of the utmost relevance."

Karl Campbell, CEO Relevare added: This site is a perfect example of pulling together all the relevant information on the web, for a specific community or organisation. It allows users automatic access to any information they need, without having to manually trawl through irrelevant material first.

Access to information via graphical icons also means that users can easily find the content they require, which is perfect for the millions of rowers and enthusiasts who span the globe."

Relevare has created a master index of the Web, called the Relevare Web Index which has been filtered for pornography, dead links, duplicate and out of date materials. This is updated 24/7. This creates a smaller but highly concentrated web resource from which relevant information on any subject can be found automatically.

Obvius Web
Provides organisations with an iconic Vortal (Vertical Portal), containing information sourced from the Internet that is specifically relevant to their business.

About Supersprint Rowing
Supersprint Rowing (SuRo) was created in 1999 by Sir Steve Redgrave to transform the interest and enjoyment provided by rowing for spectators and TV viewers, by introducing high speeds, close finishes and dramatic sprint relays. The first Supersprint Grand Prix events were fought out between World Champions and Olympic medallists in front of sell-out crowds of spectators. Highlights were shown on TV in 120 countries.

About The Rowing Service
The Rowing Service was created by Rachel Quarrell in 1994 as one of the very first rowing-related websites. It now provides news and links to rowers around the globe, as well as in-depth reporting and live-online commentary to major rowing events including Supersprint Rowing.
