Softonomy Survey Finds that Businesses Need Better Software

The vast majority of senior business executives admit that information systems software is a key to driving their business. This is according to 79% of those surveyed on behalf of Softonomy, an Irish-based software development services company. Ironically, 45% also admitted that their current software applications are deficient and 60% stated that in many areas of their business, information is not flowing freely enough to get the work done.

DUBLIN, IRELAND -- Monday 26 th November, 2001: The vast majority of senior business
executives admit that information systems software is a key to driving their business. This is
according to 79% of those surveyed on behalf of Softonomy, an Irish-based software development
services company. Ironically, 45% also admitted that their current software applications are
deficient and 60% stated that in many areas of their business, information is not flowing freely
enough to get the work done. Furthermore, two-thirds indicated that their business processes are
becoming more complex as they become more integrated with customers, suppliers, partners and
employees and as a result they feel customised software solutions are delivering better results.

The results from our software survey have not surprised us", said Mr. Martin Kelly, Managing
Director of Softonomy. The feedback and information we received during the survey backs up
the remarks and comments that we have been hearing from within the business community for some
time. Executives realise that there are many deficiencies with the software packages they acquire
and implement, and in many cases at great cost, yet they know that their businesses would perform
better still with better software. Businesses can capitalize on this opportunity by layering smart
software over the systems they already have in place".

Softonomy, a company recently formed with backing from private investors and support from
Enterprise Ireland, have conducted research into the requirements of businesses and have found that
there is still very much to automate - in fact, much more than has already been accomplished to
date. As a result, Softonomy have developed a Software Development Service which provides
tailored yet adaptable software solutions and which systematically delivers a return on investment
costs. Softonomy build applications using pre-built software and business components, and
applying these wherever they fit Clients requirements. This allows not only a robust and cost-efficient
mechanism for software development, but also an effective framework for maintenance,
support and for future enhancements.

The survey was conducted earlier this year among 38 senior business executives who represent
companies that operate in Ireland, UK and Europe. A white paper analysing the results of the survey
is available along with other information from the company website www.softonomy.ie and
questions may be directed via email to info@softonomy.ie
