Were in the business of storytelling, whether for corporate, educational , or entertainment clients. Telling the tale -- as it unfolded -- of John and Clarices near-epic endeavor to get their home built presented unique challenges and opportunities," said Lucy Frost, who serves as lead producer and writer of the series. The home, built by contractor Terry Whisenhunt, took almost a year longer than anticipated to complete, and the producing team combed through more than 150 hours of footage to create the 13 half-hour programs.
The Cefais encountered nearly every extreme known to Austinites, including a boom-to-bust real estate market an last summers record-breaking heat wave. Shipping snafus, as well as more personal issues such as their own decision-making processes and illness on the part of the crew compounded delays. They did their best to adhere to green" or energy-efficient building principles, emphasized by their architects, Peter Pfeiffer and Alan Barley of Barley+Pfeiffer.
