EASY-TO-USE CONTINUING ED RESOURCE
FOR LTC PROFESSIONALS ANNOUNCED

The Result Of New Partnership Between ACHCA And Care2Learn. com

ALEXANDRIA, VA-December 10, 2001- Long-term care professionals will find it much easier to pursue continuing education through a new online resource that will result from a new partnership between the American College of Health Care Administrators(ACHCA) and Care2Learn.com.

Beginning January 2002, students will be able to access the new online resource, otherwise known as ACHCA University, via ACHCAs website,
www. achca.org. Courses will be available for 13 different healthcare disciplines including Nursing Home Administrator, Registered Dietitian, Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, and Occupational Therapy and Nursing.

However, those offerings will merely be the opening phase of a comprehensive plan for a wide variety of online educational resources that will be available through ACHCA. The group will use Care2Learns Learning Management System to build an online learning center that will feature an extensive range of offerings, including a Masters in Long-Term Care Administration, webcasts, and basically any and all other appropriate means by which long-term administrators can pursue their professional education and development.

"Online education is an effective way to assure that administrators have a convenient, flexible method for obtaining the learning they need," Mary Tellis-Nayak, ACHCA President and CEO observed, explaining why her organization partnered with Care2Learn. She noted that the new arrangement also reflects ACHCAs abiding interest in seeking innovative ways to provide professional education because that education is key to advancing the profession of long-term care administration." ACHCA has long provided traditional forms of education, though in recent months, it has been expanding its cache of resources by branching into non-traditional areas. For example, last month, it presented an online Virtual Seminar at 20 sites nationwide through which students could earn continuing education credits. The event featured a live presentation by top U.S. government healthcare officials and opportunities for students to ask them
questions.

Meanwhile, the new partnership between ACHCA and Care2Learn gives any cost-conscious administrator of long-term care an incentive to become an ACHCA member, for it will entitle anyone on their staff to the same price discounts on ACHCA Universitys valuable course offerings that administrators will receive.

Courses will be available for purchase singly or as subscriptions," Laura More, Partner, Care2Learn, explained. Subscriptions allow staff unlimited access to our 850-plus hours of courses on the site--mandatory inservices like AIDS and Infection Control, as well as practical courses like one in Alzheimers Disease. We even have a course that teaches web newcomers Internet skills."

ACHCA members will receive special business ID and password codes from ACHCA that will enable them to access discounts. Non-members will be eligible to sign up and pay for courses, though not at discounted rates.

Were committed to having one of the finest online universities anywhere for professional education," ACHCAs Tellis-Nayak added. We strongly believe that our new partnership with Care2Learn is a very significant first step toward that important goal."
