ABU AND THE SEVEN MARVELS BY RICHARD MATHESON
ILLUSTRATED BY WILLIAM STOUT
Legendary author Richard Matheson and highly acclaimed illustrator William Stout have collaborated together on ABU AND THE 7 MARVELS, Matheson's first children's book to be published. Both Matheson and Stout are available for interviews.
Edge Books is proud to present ABU AND THE SEVEN MARVELS, Richard Mathesons previously unpublished childrens novel (ages 10+). Matheson, whos writing career spans over five decades, has been called "one of the most important writers of the 20th century" by Ray Bradbury, and "the author who influenced me most as a writer," by Stephen King.
ABU AND THE SEVEN MARVELS revolves around the quest of a lowly farmer, Abu, for the 7 marvels of the world, which he must find to win the hand of the princess he loves. Hes thwarted every step of the way by the evil Grand Vizier, but has the help of one of Mathesons most memorable characters, an ancient genie whose best days are far behind him. A crotchety old codger, the genie nevertheless meets Abus needs, though the accommodations are not first class (a magic rug that unravels and a swaybacked horse just to name a couple).
ABU AND THE SEVEN MARVELS is lavishly illustrated by acclaimed artist William Stout. Best known for his realistic dinosaurs, wildlife and fantasy paintings, his designs and creations have been used by Disney for their film Dinosaurs, and his book The Little Blue Brontosaurus was the basis for Lucas and Spielbergs The Land Before Time films. He has also contributed to several films, such as Men in Black, Masters of the Universe, and Return of the Living Dead.
The appeals of ABU AND THE SEVEN MARVELS are numerous, enabling it to stand out from other books of the genre:
•A Young Adult novel with appeal to ALL ages
•Written by the winner of numerous prestigious writing awards, such as the World Fantasy Convention's Life Achievement Award, the Bram Stoker Award for Life Achievement, and the Hugo Award.
•A wonderful full-color cover
•8 full-color interior illustrations
•19 half-page black and white drawings illustrating every chapter
Mathesons fertile imagination and Stouts beautiful illustrations result in a wonderful book that is bound to become a timeless classic.
