ESIS COMPLETES
LARGE-SCALE-BUSINESS IMPLEMENTATION
FOR CESSNA
ESIS, the worlds largest active aerospace network, announces the seamless connection of over 100 Indirect Materials suppliers to Cessnas e-business network. ESIS' Harmony Order Management System (HOM) was integrated with the Ariba Buyer system. Cessnas Indirect and Direct Suppliers are now connected to a common system.
ESIS, the worlds largest active aerospace network, announces the seamless connection of over 100 Indirect Materials suppliers to Cessnas e-business network. ESIS HOM web-based supply chain application system was implemented in a four-month timeframe and has full production capabilities. HOM was integrated with the Ariba Buyer system as part of Cessna Aircraft Company's Ariba Supplier Enablement Project.
Textron, Cessnas parent company, selected Cessna for their pilot installation of the Ariba Buyer system. Cessna selected ESIS for this project based on the cost savings from their ongoing Direct Materials e-commerce partnership with ESIS and the companys proven capability for rapid implementation and supplier setup. Other factors included HOMs order reconciliation feature and its ability to send complex product specifications with transactions.
ESIS additional service offerings for Indirect Material suppliers allows Cessna the unique ability to instantly transmit procurement documents to "spot buy" suppliers and to conduct e-commerce with these suppliers as they do with their high volume connected" suppliers.
Spearheading the project is Dave Oppenheim, CPM, Cessna's Director of Indirect Materials & E-Business. Traditional B2B solutions are slow to implement, and most OEMs usually leave small businesses to their own devices to get connected to their customers' back offices. By partnering with ESIS, we have ensured that our partners, big and small, can get their electronic catalogs in front of our internal users and enjoy the benefits of a more streamlined order process. Rapid implementation solutions are almost impossible without a coordinated program management approach, which is one of ESIS' core competencies," said Oppenheim.
"Cessna is continuing its leadership in streamlining supply chain management," said ESIS President Derek Baggerly. "Their forward-thinking approach of addressing their entire supply base, not just their biggest high-volume suppliers, really sets them apart in the whole MRO space. ESIS is very excited to be playing a key role in this project which expands our alliance with Cessna."
According to Oppenheim, Ariba enables us to leverage our purchasing across the Textron enterprise. Benefits include a significant (ten-fold) reduction in order placement time and complexity of spot-buying purchases, while providing a simple intuitive interface through ESIS that connects suppliers with end-users through the Internet." The ESIS e-commerce solution is provided at no cost to suppliers, and there are no per-transaction charges.
