BARCHORD.COM: PLAY THE MUSIC, PAY THE MUSICIAN!!
BarChord.com (http://www.barchord.com) was launched in response to a number of other services that were not treating artists fairly. First off, there is no charge to post your info if you are with a band. Furthermore, we dont ask artists to sign away their rights and privileges as a musician or performer -- all agreements with BarChord are non-exclusive.
The music industry is trying survive in the wake of new online distribution models. Consumers are trying to find cool, new tunes. Artists are trying to make some dough. We have the solution: pay the artists directly.
We built BarChord for music fans, artists and venues. The site can also be used by promoters, advertisers and major labels.
Our motto is "Music on your terms". What are your terms as a listener, musician or venue owner? Chances are you either want to promote yourself or make some money.
Listeners like to sample what new musicians have got to offer and have been very clear about what they're willing to pay for this service: nothing. We think the run-away success of 'peer-to-peer' services (eg. Napster) are obvious symbols of the growing dissatisfcation that listeners have with respect to how they're being treated by the industry. In the past, they've had to pay for entire CDs, only to find that just a few songs are worth listening to. They've also had to worry about the legality of using widely available digital formats like MP3.
With BarChord, listeners will have access to any and all information that performers and musicians post to the site. If a musician wants you to pay for a song, listeners can now be confident that when they do, half of their money (ie. 50& gross) goes right back to the artist.
By the way, there's still tons of free music: artists set the price, not some bean counter with a major label! If artists want you to have their songs, they'll post them free of charge.
Finally, what's more important than knowing artists are getting well paid with the songs that you DO buy? How about knowing that they're not getting ripped off simply so that they can promote themselves? Most other sites charge artists anywhere from $5 to $25 per month just to let them post their information. WE DON'T CHARGE ANYTHING!! That's what WE call a bargain.
Come to BarChord.com today to find out what we're all about. Experience the new revolution in music!!
