BARCHORD AND ARTISTS TO DONATE EARNINGS TO SEPTEMBER 11 RELIEF FUND

The owners and operators of BarChord are very pleased to announce that they will be working with the Rockaway Partnership Relief / Memorial Fund ('the Fund') to raise money for people that were affected by the events of September 11 and November 12 (when the American Airlines flight crashed in the Rockaways).

December 2001 – The owners and operators of BarChord are very pleased to announce that they will be working with the Rockaway Partnership Relief / Memorial Fund ('the Fund') to raise money for people that were affected by the events of September 11 and November 12 (when the American Airlines flight crashed in the Rockaways).

'The idea came out of the blue,' said Bill Wittur of BarChord. 'We were trying to find the best way to support the various charities and disaster relief funds and this turned out to be the best way. One of the artists with the site – Larry Fish – suggested that he donate earnings from his songs, but we decided that it would be easier to have everything run out of one roof. As a result, we got the Rockaway Chamber of Commerce involved.'

'We approached the Fund with the idea and Liz Sulik (Director of the Rockaways Chamber of Commerce) was very pleased with the whole concept and allowed us to set up the 'artist known as Rockaway''.

Basically, the way it will work is that BarChord artists will upload their tunes under the moniker of the Rockaway Fund. They will assign a price that they feel is appropriate and we will arrange to donate all of the funds received from the download (their half AND ours) to the Fund.

'It leverages the business concept that we've put in place to do a great thing,' Mr. Wittur added. 'We look forward to supporting the Fund on a regular basis as an expression of our sympathy to all those who were affected by the events of September 11 and November 12 (the American Airlines crash was in Rockaway)'.
