Barak needed a fast, intuitive way for people in different departments to access and work with the data warehouse. After an extensive evaluation process, Barak chose Panoramas Business Intelligence solution because of its ability to handle massive amounts of data, its speed, its web accessibility, and its intuitive user-interface.

Initially, two large scale data mart cubes were developed in order to analyze usage and trends. These cubes were originally designed to answer the immediate needs of the Sales and Marketing department. However, their usability grew daily and they are now used in a variety of ways and by more people in different departments. After the initial training and implementation, users just ran with it, and became very dependent on it," noted Michal Chen, manager of the data warehouse project.

Implementing Panorama NovaView was a smooth and efficient process, says the data warehouse team at Barak. The first group of users was working comfortably with the product in less than a month. This initial group has grown and there are now Panorama NovaView users in all of the companys departments. Most of this new group uses Panorama NovaViews Web Access product, which gives them one-click access to the business intelligence functions they need, and requires very little training, no installation, and no application maintenance. The Panorama user group within Barak continues to grow as new employees are introduced to Panorama NovaView, the doorway to the wealth of information in the data warehouse. Panorama NovaView users have also taken an active role in the expanded implementation of Panorama software, requesting new ways to get new kinds of information, in several cases leading to the development of new data mart cubes.

In February 2001, responding to its growing data analysis needs, Barak developed three additional large scale cubes dealing with customers, products, and lines. The drill-through capabilities of these cubes allow employees to create easily understood reports which they send to other departments, greatly facilitating the flow of information within the company and keeping all the departments on the same page. Currently, two new cubes are under construction. One will allow the Finance and Marketing departments to run easy daily budget follow-ups; the other will manage customer contacts.

Panorama NovaView gives everyone in Barak the opportunity to access the data warehouse in the way he or she needs. Analysts no longer need to spend needless hours preparing presentations and reports; Panorama NovaView gives them the data in readily understandable form, allowing them to spend their time analyzing the data, instead of trying to make it understandable to the rest of the company.
