Scyld and PSSC Labs Explore Alliance

Irvine,CA - Scyld Computing Corporation and PSSC Labs have begun discussions to form a formal partnership that offers to bring a complete solution to the Beowulf community. The relationship will be announced at the upcoming LinuxWorld Expo in New York.

"For PSSC Labs, working with Scyld will give us us greater legitimacy in the marketplace," states Alex Lesser, Vice President of PSSC Labs. "To be able to work with Scyld, whose CTO, Donald Becker, began the Beowulf revolution, will enable us to provide a complete, high quality turn-key solution to our customers and will potentially help to open a broader commercial market for PSSC Labs."

Donald Becker sees excellent synergies between the two companies. "Scyld's focus is on providing commercial software solutions for Beowulf users. PSSC Labs, in contrast, deals primarily with custom manufacturing Beowulf clusters," states Becker. Scyld's initial contact with PSSC Labs explored the possibilities of forming reseller, training, co-marketing and support arrangements. Scyld and PSSC are actively working towards forming a more formal long-term releationship.

According to Janice Lesser, PSSC Labs CEO, the future for her company looks extremely promising. "This relationship is great, not only for us, not only for Scyld, but more importantly this relationship will benefit our clients and the Beowulf community. Our hardware knowledge and Scyld's software engineering will bring the best turn-key solutions to the market. This is a big step in bringing Beowulf solutions to commercial companies, not just research organizations."
