ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN SPARKS INTERNET HACKER ATTACK
The first day of an intensive New York advertising campaign has been derailed by an Internet attack. PerfectMarketing.com, a search engine optimization company, discovered that hackers had brought down their web site last night in an attack similar to the ones launched on Microsoft's web site. According to Michael Saguri, President of PerfectMarketing.com, the entire site was rendered inaccessible sometime Sunday night or Monday morning.
- believe that someone heard our advertisements on the radio in New York and decided to do some damage." said Mr. Saguri. Denials of service attacks are nearly impossible to defend against, as even Internet giant Microsoft Corporation has found. Mr. Saguri believes that the timing of this attack, just as PerfectMarketing.com began a new advertising campaign in New York City suggests the attack came from someone in New York itself. "It is frustrating," said Mr Saguri, "to spend thousands of dollars and to have your entire sales staff doing nothing because no-one can find you!"
The advertisements started running this morning on six New York City radio stations, with many of the advertisements featuring Howard Stern. PerfectMarketing.com ran a similar advertising campaign in California with no problems. California companies responded in droves to the California ads, which warned about being lost on the Internet. PerfectMarketing.com helps companies that do e-commerce get better visibility on the search engines, which is where 85% of all Internet users look for services.
Server administrators and staff were hard at work this morning to restore service as soon as possible.
