Datum Delivers Industry First
AUSTIN, Tx - February 21, 2001 -- Datum, Inc., (Nasdaq: DATM) a leading global supplier of embedded and external carrier-class synchronization solutions, today announced the introduction of its NetSynCareSM Professional Services at the CLEC expo in New York. Datum is the first synchronization manufacturing company to offer a total turnkey solution for network design and implementation saving network operators the cost associated with maintaining internal expertise for this crucial aspect of network growth.
Synchronization is a critical part of the successful operation of any network," said Jack Rice, president of Datum-Austin. Poorly synchronized equipment can cause retransmission or packet loss, corrupted data, dropped calls and inefficient bandwidth utilization. Datums complete synchronization solution is a must-have for companies that want to maximize return on their network investment, minimize operational costs and meet their network performance and customer quality of service (QoS) objectives."
Rice notes that Datum-Austin is a recognized synchronization leader, with over 30 years experience, in developing timing solutions. NetSynCare Professional Services is a suite of total value-added offerings designed to be a one-stop solution for network synchronization. NetSynCares debut consists of four main components:
·Site Survey - GPS/CDMA site assessment, characterization, issues assessment and site layout plan
·Planning - performance objectives report, cost-effective network architecture, budgeting, expansion options, scheduling and resource allocation
·Supply and Installation – Supply coordination, installation and acceptance test report
·Training - Synchronization fundamentals, product operations and maintenance and custom training
In addition, carriers can request other services to include audits, on-site troubleshooting, maintenance practices and technical support.
The growing complexities of converged voice and data networks are driving the need for this type of professional service," noted Erik van der Kaay, chairman and chief executive officer of Datum, Inc. Datum has the expertise, technology and the products to satisfy the demands for this emerging need."
According to a recent Yankee Group study, the projected demand for network professional services to carriers will grow to $10.34 billion by 2002.
The NetSyncPLUS® family of products is designed to be easily integrated into existing network infrastructures and managed as part of a total network package.
With the addition of NetSynCare Professional Services, customers will not be required to hire an engineer to perform synchronization services such as designing a network architecture, managing the installation or auditing their synchronization system.
