New Startup ISP Offers Economical Internet Service to Rural America

Rural Free Internet (RFI) Service is a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) offering unlimited dialup Internet service nationwide. RFI offers Internet service at over 2800 locations in all 50 states. RFI is unique in that an emphasis is placed on offering dialup Internet services in remote rural locations where other ISP's won't (or can't) operate.

The company name "Rural Free Internet" was originally a play on the postal service's "Rural Free Delivery", but many RFI web site visiters thought that it referred to free Internet service. Accordingly, RFI decided to end that confusion with a new concept, free Internet service for rural America!

In addition to offering economical Internet service, RFI also plans to offer free (banner supported) Internet service at approximately 60% of its locations. While RFI will not directly profit from the free Internet service, RFI management believes that positive exposure will result in increased paid subscribership. Free service was actually offered by RFI until December 10, 2000 when 1StUp.com failed, but is anticipated to begin again in the middle of March 2001 under a new free ISP backbone provider.

RFI offers unlimited dialup service for $12.95/month, priced approximately $9.00/month less that America Online (AOL). AOL is currently RFI's biggest competitor, but RFI already offers service at more locations than AOL at about 58% of AOL's cost to subscribers. RFI is targeting AOL's rural America customers first. RFI believes that rural American's will respond to RFI's lower prices, quicker service, and increased dialup locations.

RFI is operated out of the rural Arizona community of Salome, located approximately 120 miles west of Phoenix. RFI believes that the only way to effectively service the needs of rural America is to operate the company with people who live in rural America. So far the strategy has worked.

RFI is privately owned, yet sufficiently capitalized to weather the fall of other dot.com's in this volitile market. RFI has no plans to go public at this time. To learn more about RFI visit the web site at:
