Mark Knopfler will tour the United States and Canada this spring in support of his acclaimed CD, Sailing To Philadelphia (Warner Bros.). The tour is the respected guitarist, singer/songwriters first in more than a decade.

Mark Knopfler is probably best known as the main force behind the international hit group Dire Straits. The groups Brothers In Arms album that yielded the computer-animated video of the hit single Money for Nothing," propelled Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits to international superstardom, with sales in the tens of millions worldwide.

Sailing To Philadelphia is Knopflers first solo record since 1996. Reviewed by Jann Wenner as the finest album of Mark Knopflers career" in Rolling Stone, the CD includes guest performances by James Taylor and Van Morrison.

The tour itinerary includes major markets throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to Knopfler on lead guitar and vocals, band members will include Guy Fletcher (keyboards), Geraint Watkins (keyboards), Richard Bennett (guitar), Glenn Worf (bass),
Chad Cromwell (drums), and Mike Henderson (guitar).
