Yakara Launch m-groups at GSM World Congress

Yakara Launch m-groups at GSM World Congress

Edinburgh, UK (22 March, 2001) - Yakara has quickened the pace of the mobile communication revolution with a new product, m-groups. m-groups belongs to a new generation of applications which allow people to interact using group location-based messaging.

Yakara launched m-groups at this years GSM World Congress in Cannes (20-23 February), recognised globally as the gathering place for all key players in the GSM and 3G community. The company was one of 24 invited to exhibit in the Motorola sponsored ‘Application Developers Zone, an area dedicated to content and application developers for the Mobile Internet.

Tipped as the next ‘killer app, mobile community technology is attracting a great deal of interest worldwide. In todays marketplace where subscribers demand new and exciting services from their networks, operators must compete for increased revenue, customer loyalty and differentiated products.
Yakara offers Service Providers a mobile community solution which enables friends, families, and businesses to communicate, cooperate and collaborate using wireless handsets - a technology predicted to be at the core of 3G mobile Internet services.
m-groups is unique in featuring group communication, both voice and text, that uses the users location as one of the parameters that define how he or she interacts with the rest of the group" explains Stuart Malcolm, Managing Director.

Following the success of this launch and the interest generated at the exhibition, Yakara is currently in discussion with network operators globally, and are planning a series of road-shows from April to demonstrate a live version of m-groups.
